Handmade Wool Wash Soap -- 3 oz.
At Cedar Hill Farm, we generally prefer to make and use our own soap due to concern for the care and longevity of our garments. It take a lot of time and effort to create hand-knit or hand-crocheted garments and blankets, so extra care should be taken to preserve color and fiber longevity in the yarns used. Now you, too, can care for the treasured garments in your life with our handmade wool wash soap!
Each bar is made from oils that will soften and protect the fibers in the yarn of your garment. As well, we use essential oils that help to repel pests, including lavender, eucalyptus, and tea tree. Our soap is also available in unscented if you prefer to use soap without essential oil. This soap contains a lower amount of sodium hydroxide than most bar soaps, which means it is more gently on your hand-wash clothing. However, a lower sodium hydroxide level also means fewer suds, though the cleaning agent is still there.
Simply hold under running water to use.
Full size: 3 oz.
Sample size: 1 oz.
Ingredients: Coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, essential oil, castor oil, beeswax, sodium hydroxide.
A Note of Caution: It is always important to know the pH of your water. Even the most gentle soaps will interact with basic water (pH of 7+) because most hand-dyed yarns are acid-based and basic pH water will undue the dye fixing process. To counter this, you can add a tablespoon or two of white vinegar to your water before immersing your garment.
