Hiker Chick Socks -- Knitting Patterns -- PDF Download

This sock is the perfect boot sock because of its unique heel construction (double partridge stitch flap V-heel), its elastic nature, and the “bit of lace” effect of the pattern design. The construction of the V-heel is designed to be durable, yet durable without ridges or well-defined rows that can cause discomfort and pilling. The body of the sock is designed to stretch, yet retain its original form, just in case you wanted to wear a thinner sock as an under-layer. And if you aren't into hiking and don't wear boots, it's also a great sock to pair with clogs or a pair of Mary Janes.

Materials:

Yarn: Cedar Hill Farm Company Rocket Sock (370-500 yards (85 - 200 g) of fingering weight yarn. Pictured here, Cedar Hill Farm Company's Rocket Sock (75% superwash merino wool/ 25% nylon) in Runaway Bride and Copper Kettle. Actual yardage will vary depending on foot circumference, length of foot and cuff.

Needles: US #3 (3.25 mm) circular needle or DPNs, depending on preference.

Notions: Locking stitch marker; yarn needle

Gauge:

8 sts x 9 rows = 1 inch in stocking stitch

Finished Measurements:

Small: fits 5 to 7-inch foot circumference

Medium: fits 6 to 9-inch foot circumference

Large: fits 8 to 11-inch foot circumference
